Week 10. We’re coming into close contact with some cushty records now for 2025. This week sees some of the most highly anticipated releases drop ahead of Spring venue run-ins – alongside the hottest day of the day so far, rather fittingly. Here are some of our most recommended albums to check out.
NIGHT LIFE
Divorce
This one has been circulating for a while since its release was heard on the streets of the 0114. Deservingly so, Nottingham are strung up on the musical banners as local indie quartet reign with debut, Drive to Goldenhammer. Full of life and vigour, it plays homage to place and home in true feel-good indie fashion. Doing the neighbouring scene proud!
Blood on the Silver Screen
SASAMI
The all encompassing pop record is no easy feat. But Sasami seems to have achieved it rather emphatically with her Blood on the Silver Screen star role. A visceral lean in towards to the chaos of romance, the artiste’s shimmering pop accolade is a beautiful shimmer as it is as dangerous as a knife in the back.
The Haar
Black Foxxes
For an album five years in the making, this one feels all the more special. A band deep in the broil of industry survival and financial backing, Black Foxxes are a devastating collective like no other. Today marks the fourth record of the bands’ tenure. Simmered and cooked with gorgeous nuances, The Haar makes a redemptive comeback for the boys. And we’re all here for it. Enjoy this one.
Tsunami Sea
Spiritbox
Talking of women unafraid to break the sound barriers, in swoops Spiritbox. Phew, this is a big one. This week also sees heavy metal heavyweights Spiritbox release their sophomore, Tsnuami Sea. 43 minutes and a wipe of the brow later, marks a deluge of guttural riffs, angelic melody lines and emphatic off-loaders.
Service Station at the end of the Universe
Antony Szmierek
Okay, this one feels like a lightning in a bottle. Think Mike Skinner donning a synth, the Manny poet has been lauded one of the forefront runners in captivating songwriting with both spoken word and dance music. Service Station… is Antony high in the clouds right now. Best put on full blast before sunrise.
