Sometimes it’s worth tapping into an album perfect for those lazy sundays in the month.
A frosty wander through the forest as the trees lay bare with the changing of the seasons. Or the bottom of the glass made sweeter. or a driveway filled with memories. Or a coffee house run when the weather is less forgiving… Take a look at our September sunday listens this week – all come from recent albums over the past few weeks.
MITSKI: thE lAND iS iNHOSPITABLE AND sO aRE wE
September comes at a time for Mitski where life may be easier for her without hope or love. But when she closes her eyes, all she can do it is think about love. A hauntingly-beautiful epic of glistening indie as the singer-songwriter looks at a sorrowful America from the bottom of her glass.
The National: Laugh Track
An everlasting tale of sultry wanderlust begins again almost notice with Laugh Track – a new work consisting of leftover bits from the Frankenstein sessions, along with some newly-written footnotes, including wandering giant Space Invader.
Petey: UsA
This month also brings new blissful alternative from Petey with his latest, USA. The Lean Into Life ring-bearer of summer solstice, comes an album devoted to a whole different season altogether. An album more intricate, subdued and carefully laid out from his 2022 sophomore, Mr. Petey has abandoned the hazy synths and replaced it with folky journalist entries.
