Entering the eclipse of Autumn, we take a look at the some of the best music releases this week, all according to mvm of course. Grab your pumpkin spice coffee and get lost in a good choon as the night begins to draw in.

Maybe in Another Life…// Your favourite Smooth Radio lo-fi artists are back with their sophomore album from debut life’s a beach last year. Originally raked back in release date due to production problems, it features a hefty catalogue of fifteen indie-pop soothers that is perfect to stick on during these cold nights sweeping in.

Gilla, Gilla .. Band // A stand-out contender this week is the Dublin-based mutant punk-rock trio, Gilla Band with their third successive album, Most Normal. It features eclectic Post Ryan and Eight Fivers in its line-up. A drizzle of hip-hop can’t go amiss either, certainly one to watch for the true alternatives of the wide spanning post-punk scene.

Five years later.. Alvvays // I don’t think they were expecting to take five years to release third album, but with many obstacles in the way – least forgetting a pandemic – the nervy, undulating joyride of Blue Rev is finally here. Ones to watch for the best of best alternative music in go-lucky textures, almost like you’re directing your own home video, Alvvays are always a good idea to whack on. The americanised version of our Wolf Alice over here, it features Easy On Your Own? and Pharmacist.

WARGASM’s first collective taste // A sheer brutal force in the industry with both their unnerving pit-hardcore rock and the apparent leg-up they received with one half of the duo being the son of Sex Pistols’ bassist Glen Matlock, they build more angst and momentum with their first EP from pre-released singles and a UK tour announcement.

The Wombats thinking about the The Wombats // After Fix Yourself, Not The World, it looks like the Liverpudlian indie-rock trio are going for an introspective discussion. The follow-up to Is This What It Feels Like to Feel Like This? is I Think My Mind Has Made Its Mind Up. I’m not entirely sure where they’re planning to go with this, but I’m here for it.

Another moment to celebrate is Maneskin releasing new music today too. Not so much a craving for the fans after brutally addictive SUPERMODEL, The Loneliest is the Italian guys going into a more ballad rock feel, no doubt sharing the same lonesome feeling now that summer is officially over…

Some additions to the list to make up the numbers are singles that come from Black Honey with Out of My Mind, Laundromat‘s Gloss, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard‘s Iron Lung and Sugar Horse with 5-minute wonderment Super Army Soldiers featuring a whole host of special guests wych elm, IDLES and Vennart.

What are you most excited to listen to this weekend?
