MERRY CHRISTMAS FOLKS! I thought I would jump on here and wish all you lovely lot a relaxing holiday of festivities … and food.

I hope next year in 2022 brings a new reign of hope, happiness and surprise amongst our closest. Here’s hoping that we strive one more step to our dreams.

What’s your favourite music single?

For me, it’s the classic acoustics of Chris Rea’s Driving Home For Christmas or the staple-nostalgia of Andy Williams’ It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year, that really reflect the subtle magic of the festive season. Whether it be the over-played Christmas hits of Mariah or the thawing of Michael Buble throughout December … let me know your favourites throughout the years – they’ll have the most wonderful memories attached to them, of course!

My favorite Christmas songs are probably Nat King Cole’s “The Christmas Song”, Judy Garland’s version of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”, and John Lennon/Yoko Ono’s “Happy Xmas (War is Over)”.

  I love your picks here, Jeff! Especially Lennon’s and King Cole’s festive works, both really underrated Christmas songs during this time of the year, so I do appreciate sharing the love.

I’m kind of a sucker for Christmas music, but I tend to avoid the pop artists. I grew up listening to jazz impressions of the Christmas classics. Some of it good, some of it really not. I think of all the varied interpretations and even original songs written to celebrate the holidays, the original instrumental take of “Christmastime is Here” by Vince Guaraldi would have to be my favorite. That entire album has a richness to the composition and recording that really makes it stand out.

  I love love the works of jazz entwined with that of Christmas, makes the occasion the more magical, me thinks. I’ll have to check your fave out before the year is over (it’s still Christmas, right?) – – for me, it’s the lo-fi chill work of Christmas covers for those songs by the fire make it all the better special.
