best bands you’ve never heard of #7 | portrayal of guilt

A pivotal pillar in the underground scene, three-piece portrayal of guilt continue their relentless descent to the Hail Mary of hardcore.

Blending elements of black, death, nu-metal (Korn resemble, hmm?), screamo, sludge and hardcore (even a bit a’ industrial in there), their music is a sweltering onslaught of a band configuring dissonance – and connecting the dots. Those low tones are punishing as are those quelled passages, eerily jarring before we’re careened into another full frontal attack. Yet, there’s an ever-present swaying groove in here too.

The Austin black metal trio draw all influences into a cataclysmic fourth record that for any fan who have swept their ears over the above genres, somewhere in this pit, the sweet spots can be really hit here.

Since their tenure, P.O.G have traipsed over every dark corner in heavy music as they show off their sizeable touring reputation with a hefty enough record that sees them at the round table again.
