The artist, formerly known as Ted Jasper, tastefully breathes and sways house and jazz into a palatable cocktail of sampling success.
In keeping with Ezra Collective’s recent release this Friday, we keep spirits high with another artists deep-pocketed in the world of jazz. Who else better than the work of berlioz?
This man has seemingly come from nowhere. In a world where sampling Matisse interviews and women declaring their love for Picasso, berlioz’s jazz-house productions have set the blistering pace of TikTok on fire.
Borne out of debut open this wall, the smooth lateral flows of jazz-house are gorgeous in tone as much as they are expanding the waves of creativity. Lush piano trills and trombones that melt like butter fill us up quite content mostly, but it’s not without its sampling works of the everyday. From sampling rare Matisse radio interviews, Wilson’s PBS talk on self-titled open this wall to Dafoe’s Abandon Perfection discussion in something will happen against that lush backdrop, it’s safe to say that Jasper has landed on something spectacular.
open this wall for me: a non-stop delight the creativity of berlioz‘s debut is unbounded.
From aspiring Soundcloud teenager to one of London’s trailblazer as jazz-house producer, it’s been quite a journey for the Cape Town-born musician. After a momentous summer to reflect on – featuring a colossal street party in Shoreditch in June – what’s next for the main man? No doubt with his heart firmly on his sleeve, he’ll slow his return, taking extra care into his creativity. Besides, that’s what he did for open this wall and it’s pure brilliance.
