OVERVIEW

We kick things off with the sophomore single of This Misery is Gourmet – the second track the Cambridge-based quartet has now released – as it delivers a slower, sultry side to the band, compared to that of enigmatic first header Jane Doe. Nottingham’s version of a jack-knifed Opus Kink, Dura Mater are an eight-piece drawing in art rock, chamber folk and everything in-between. A jam-packed thesis of ideas, it creates a sensation that their music is more a journey than a moment. Group Listening pop out of the undergrowth here with New Brighton – another stellar soundtrack for putting your plants to sleep. While YOVA is light on her feet again with indie-folk drop out Maybe taken from her album, Dreamcatchers. Wolfgang’s also back with another combustible impression of electric fizz with We Are Not Going Back. Martial Arts hit the ground running in the post-punk world with their two cents, while Shoreline celebrate their sophomore release with To Figure It Out. South Londoners Whitelands hit out with wishy-washy shoegaze Night-bound Eyes Are Blind To The Day as we look forlornly out the window. CHERYM is a real blast of cheap-thrill punk with Take It or Leave It before we bring it right down with Azamiah‘s Heroine – a genre-fluid breathe-out inspired by the sounds of the World.
