Artist Spotlight: Black Honey

Similar to that of Black Honey, this indie-grudge grunge quartet are as viscous in their bold music-beatings as they are as sweet in their intriguing delivery.

Tough acts of “Beaches”, “All My Pride”, “Corrine” and “I Like The Way You Die,” are what makes this Brighton collective so unique and wild in their coming-of-age industry story. Love, lust, hate and all-between.

Another band is rising into the limelight showcasing a boss bitch frontman and a no-nonsense attitude knowing exactly what they want.

Global Citizen Live: Did you Watch it?

Defend the planet. Defeat poverty.

After so many avid international music artists performing around the world – from New York’s Central Park to the Amazon River in Brazil – for 24 hours, Global Citizen was a magnificent music masterpiece to behold.

After managing to catch a glimpse of Coldplay’s performance -with the tempting cameo of Billie Eilish gracing the stage – before my eyes finally drifted off after 2 in the morning, it got me really inspired to delve into new artists I wouldn’t have heard of before if it weren’t for the event.

Christina and the Queens, Burna Boy and Lang Lang were to name a few.

After such a mass worldwide coverage, did you manage to catch a glimpse of a performance, too?

If so, what was your favourite?

Song of the Day: The Lumineers – “BRIGHTSIDE”

The sorrowful beauty of indie folk lovers of The Lumineers are back in a new ambient space with their single, BRIGHTSIDE.

From their return from 2019’s III album, The Lumineers are back and heralded with their vibrancy once more. This comes off the back of their fourth album set to release next January in 2022 – and is sparkling excitement in the folklore of folk music.

Ever since their eclectic Hey Ho from their debut, they have gained emphatic status and recognition for the music efforts. Eclipsed by their 2016 album, Cleopatra, BRIGHTSIDE is the coming of age and their fourth instalment in the saga.

You can have a listen to the song below:

The Power of A New Album

Evening, folks. I thought I would jump on here and share my thoughts with you.

Following from my album review yesterday about The Vaccines’ recent bout of retro cities with Back In Love City, I’ve played it non stop.

Not only have I invested my time into these indie favourites, but I’ve actually invested time in their past albums which I’ve managed to missed or not invested a lot of time into. Trawling through an artists’ past work all the while going back to their recent work is a fantastic way of seeing the artists’ journey through song writing but it also allows the artist to stay relevant and in our minds – all the while benefiting from the influx of listeners, tribes of music purchases and avid watchers of their next leg of tour.

It really shows the power of staying relevant and fresh by creating new music. Especially if that new music is fantastically inventive and ultimately reinvents the artist wheel of their music. It keeps you around for longer!

I’d love for anyone to put me in my place with snarky comments like, “oh well this is why they do it..” and “it’s common knowledge about new music..” but I’d just thought I would share my recent thoughts with you!

Thanks folks.

By the way, The Vaccines are touring in the spring next year across the UK (in case you wondering)!!

Song of the Day: “The Adults are Talking” – The Strokes

Off the back off the glossy indie bands’ return to stardom from 2013’s Comedown Machine, The Strokes are back with a bold, brash and thought-provoking approach to their songwriting work.

You can have a listen to “The Adults Are Talking” below. You can catch the single in u their eclectic album release from last year, aptly named, The New Abnormal.
