Discover Mother Vulture: Bristol’s Latest Musical Phenomenon

An exciting new noise to throw down to is finally here. So lift up your socks, perk your ears and lean in.. This is Mother Vulture. ///

and when it rains, it pours / it’s never gonna to stop.

An shape-shifting presence of operatic grandeur and off-kilter alt-rock charge emerges Mother Vulture out from the Bristolian foliage. At one point, they would’ve surely introduced themselves to the world via Bristols’ smallest brothels and dive bars with stages barely a few inches off the floor. Now, with two studio albums and a notoriously energetic live craze behind them, they look to rip apart the touring doozy as we see it.

Before chance, Bristol’s Thekla had sold out and the band made camp at Bloodstock and ArcTanGent, looking like they’ve been doing it for years – all for fellow concert-goers and evident well-clued up fanatics whirling around and asking, ‘just who the hell were they?’

My goodness, the monster hooks in here are really one to enthuse over. Their debut record four years ago saw them encroach their own animalistic side with Monster Crunch and Honey, a frenzied steam of ferocity. This year sees them release their highly-anticipated sophomore, Cartoon Violence. A far more assured and emphatic delivery of a band who are very much calling the shots. Treadmill is a fast blaze of noise, a youngling befitting on those workout gym playlists, as you start your New Years’ resolution in losing a few pounds – only to immediately give up in the first week of February. Slow Down is the ultimate show-stopper, however. A decadent of the dark broods of Black Peaks and Arcane Roots (fortunately one of those is coming back), its edgy guitar fittings and vocal powerhouse makes for a wonderful if you like this, listen to this.

If one of your other resolutions is to listen to more new music, get these in your earhole. And then once you’re all caught up, go out and see them on the road. I assure you, you won’t want to miss it.
