Feedback and Feelings: // best 3 alternative bands on the scene right now

Getdown Services____

“I gave a two star review of a film I hadn’t even seen” //

A power dance romping of a silly Britain, Getdown Services are fast proving that they’re the hottest duo in a musical manifest of alternative glory-holes. To pair Josh Law and Ben Sadler, letting loose is all part of the game. A British ham sandwich of funky Yard Act disco-rock-esque, Streets spoken-word colloquiums awash with T-Rex ’70s rock inflections, debut 2023 of Crisps was a trifle of delight.

Heavy Lungs____

“life’s a buffet”

A run of ferocious delicacies, loud Bristol band Heavy Lungs are on a warpath of serving up their raucous live scene on dinner trays, no doubt serving up seconds for those who are eager for it. Their hardened sophomore album of Caviar is a classic grit-rock record chomping at the bit, eager to be let loose like that of a dirty old buzzard strafing on a wounded rabbit.

Cliffords____

not the dog, the band

A differing landscape of lush indie-rock backdrops, Cliffords are a refreshing dabble into some of the best collectives from Cork. Riding on the coattails of recent EP, Salt of the Lee they have mustered every ounce of their being into an equally ambitious collection of songs that hit all the right feelings. R&H Hall is a bustling effort not too far from English Teacher musings, while My Favourite Monster is a softening folk-glazing.
