Since its tenure in 2007, the all-dayer has boasted such acts like Two Door Cinema Club, Bombay Bicycle Club, Sundara Karma and The Vaccines over the years. Established bands that, always earn themselves a spot as feel-good indie anthems for any playlist throughout the Summer.
Now in its nineteenth iteration, Live at Leeds in the Park returns for 2025 on the 24th of May. Hosted at Temple Newsam Park, a day before the seasoned punk rock-haven of Slam Dunk rolls into town, Live at Leeds in the Park hosts and plays out a remarkable all-dayer of wall-to-wall indie rock brilliance – from both veteran and new artists.
Last year, we saw indie stalwarts The Kooks take the headline slot with a singalong in the rain, along with the likes of Declan McKenna, Sea Girls and The Cribs. Now for those behind Slam Dunk, we see this year boast an even bigger line-up.
Seismic post-punk London-based outfit Bloc Party lead the line-up as part of their ever-expanding calendar this Summer in performing their prized debut Silent Alarm, as they celebrate twenty years since its release in 2005. While the original line-up has undoubtedly changed from twenty years ago, the co-founders of both Kele Okereke and Russell Lissack remain in its format. Hooky guitar-led triumphs of Banquet and Helicopter will no doubt blossom in the sprawling sun while beautiful swoons of This Modern Love and So Here We Are will chart rumblings of nostalgic bliss of yesteryear – for those fanatics who remembered just how impactful the Noughties was for indie/alternative in the UK. As A Weekend in the City B-Sides was released earlier last year, the tour will no doubt feature some of the bands’ other greatest hits, including Flux and Ratchet.
Alongside Bloc Party, we will also see euphoric ’90s staples of Manic Street Preachers perform classics from their ’98 magic This is My Truth Tell Me Yours aswell as favourites from their fourteenth studio album of Critical Thinking, which was released earlier this year in February. Elsewhere, wonky fuzz Yard Act and majestic soloist Sigrid fill the roster with new favourites Sports Team and Fat Dog also honing their craft.
Lo-fi groove-makers of Hard Life return to the fray with a new name and a new lease of life, following on from their recent lawsuit with flying giants EasyJet. Also receiving a Summer resurgence this year and last, is Multi-Platinum Pop singer/songwriter Natasha Bedingfield who will be a special afternoon guest on the day.
Live at Leeds has always been known to attributing both established and up-and-coming artists in the indie and alternative scene – and this year is certainly no different.
Brass post-punk fiends Deadletter, lyrical quarks Do Nothing and no-boundary duo Getdown Services receive mega slots on an already bulging line-up of new and exciting music for those sprawling in all encompassing genres of indie alternative.
Mark the date – Live at Leeds in the Park is welcomed once again with open arms to the sprawling greenfields of Temple Newsam that will see some of the most exciting talent hit the stages all in one day.
