All-expansive, all-explosive post-punk trio bring the freedom to fuel the punk revival scene as we know it.
If Baby You’re A Winner is to go by, new kids on the block Grandmas House have won the whole damn lottery. A formation which started out in Bristol, the work of Yasmin Berndt on guitar, Poppy Dodgson on drums and Zoë Zinsmeister on bass – all providing shared vocals – has slowly become a sound worth all the gravitas.
Having charted a fine spot on the Official Independent Album Breakers Chart, Grandma’s House debut Baby You’re A Winner is a catalyst of fast riff, thumping bass and energetic energy that makes a sweltering record ideally played loud without remorse.
Key figureheads of DOG and Dance stamp out the authoritative male diction in a loud industry and restablish women being central to the punk movement since its inception. From Patti Smith, Riot Grrrl to Lambrini Girls, fighting the good fight has become commonplace for women in music. And with the likes of Grandmas House throwing hands with their debut, it’ll only get stronger, better … louder.
The trio embark on a European tour through the Autumnal period, with UK dates in Brighton, Manchester, Nottingam and their hometown at Thekla.
