best bands you’ve never heard of #1: Skiving

Turning corporate mundanity into post-punk supremacy, Skiving bring quick wit, proverbial synths and a whole lot of attitude.

A project of five from all walks of life and all different projects of their own, Skiving is a “prog-punk” sound of Television tomfoolery and Opus Kink skittish. It is brutish, scarily put-together and borderline cocky in its make-up. And it’s all signs of brilliant. An art rock convention free of stuffy offices, timed toilet breaks and itchy polyester suits, they gallop and galavant amongst a brilliant evocative musical identity.

It’s attire is new and its social commentary is oh-so on point. The five-piece are wonderfully alternative, as they gloss over the index of multiple genres and its sub-headings. The first complete package comes in the form of The Family Computer, a 7-parter demonstrating the guys’ best sounds thus far. Germanic glitch-work Ich Bin Ein Beginner and wily Things Made of Metal lead the way in carving out this bands’ beginnings into the wonderful world of quirk. Sign in here.
