Uniquely Yours #8 – YOUR PLAYLIST FOR THE WEEKEND

In light of psychedelic Porn Crumpets’ new album today, we venture into more tailored playlists for your weekends to start the right way. //

FEAT. Fiddlehead, King NUn, Deafcult, Deftones, Opus Kink, fat Dog, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Psychedelic porn crumpets, Militarie Gun, Everything Everything, The Rolling Stones, The Murder Capital, UNIVERSITY, Porcupine Tree

This week sees us venture into the prog-rock hall of famers with Porcupine Tree, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets and King Gizzard getting a fair share in the spotlight. We also wave hello to some new favourite bands that have cropped up all too fast this week. Fat Dog‘s King of the Slugs is an emphatic debut of discolour, giving major post-punk inspiration from the likes of Opus Kink and the sort. We also see the new hotly-contested UNIVERSITY with skittish Notre Dame Made Out of Flesh and The Murder Capital reprising their gloomy role with Heart In The Hole from potential AOTY contender, Gigi’s Recovering. Welcome back, boys! We also see striding shoegazers Deafcult join the listing with The Sign, swept clean from their album Future of Illusion which was also released today. Well, look at that. King Nun have been on our radar with them even getting their own Hidden Gems spotlight earlier in the year. Now they have a sophomore to their name with Lamb released a month or so back. OCD is on this playlist. We also share the love with new Stones, as Hackney Diamonds rips up everything with guys who can still rock just as they did 50 years ago. Of course, we wouldn’t have alternative hardcore stalwarts of Fiddlehead and Militarie Gun on here, both making rounds in the scene with both heading to the UK nearing Christmas. GET IT, IT’S YOURS.//

A bit of topsy-turvy one this time round, but sometimes the best playlists don’t have to match up with deep sentiment or existential feeling. Sometimes a list of good tunes is just enough.
