You may be asking me, “Alex, what does Voldemort have to do with The Music Industry?”
Well.
Y’see, every wizard and witch dared not utter his unmentionable name for the fear that it will bring upon them. The very name brought fear within the hearts of Hogwarts students and so, they fashioned a daunting nickname that not only avoided you saying his name, but also allowed everyone to know who you were talking about.
However, when someone DOES utter his name either under his breath or bellowing it from the rooftops of the Owlery at Hogwarts, there is a sudden gasp from all who hear it.
It is here in this very moment, why Voldemort is like the Music Industry. Similar to when his name is spoken, it can be said that it is the same when these three distasteful words are spoken too. It seems that it is the Industry That Must Not Be Named.
People shy away from the very existence of music being an industry, where they can actually receive money from the damn thing, almost like when you stumble upon Voldemort’s face for the first time. Wincing.
Because of all this hush-hush, you can argue that the industry as a whole, doesn’t exist at all. And I say to that, you may be right. It certainly seems that way when you simply look it up.
It is time to release the name from its shackles and release it into the wild. Let it flourish. Let it create opportunities to join professional music festival organisations where we don’t just hand out leaflets to the unsuspecting public around town. What do you think? Shall we release the name?
Because after a while, Voldemort became the norm for all the Hogwarts chaps. It was literally thrown around like nobody’s business during the end of the books. Maybe, that’s what we needed. An evil wizard to destroy everything we’ve ever loved for it to finally be spoken about in everyday conversations. Let’s make it happen, folks.
Alex
