It’s the ultimate recommendation. Using the power of maths.
Spotify’s Discover Weekly feature has helped me in more than occasion during this lockdown period. If anything, it has also whet my musical appetite for discovering more and more artists.
With the use of algorithm and the app seemingly knowing me through and through, Discover Weekly never fails to deliver me music that I know I will like. It not only fills the gap of boredom and makes me more productive, but also introduces me to new artists and their corresponding scenes. From Child of the Parish, Strawberry Lace, Waterparks to Ocean Grove, Stand Atlantic and Violent Soho, the similarity to my familiar is uncanny. And so it should be.
Of course, it doesn’t stop there. Whatever you’ve been feeling that week – whether new or old – it will replicate the same and update itself to feature that very same music each week.
It also has saved me numerous times in playing neutral music to gatherings, parties and meet-ups – because no one can moan at the music, as I don’t know what I’m playing either. So if anything, it’s a win-win.
It sees familiar faces among the crowd and disperses them into one beautifully perfect playlist. Give yours a listen, you never know what you might find.
